Aloha! We are so excited to announce that we will be offering a ministry based Wilderness First Responder course this summer on the Big Island of Hawaii!
The Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the industry standard for professional outdoor guides, ski patrol, and trip leaders. The WFR is the perfect course for anyone working in a position of leadership in an outdoor setting or individuals who want a high level of wilderness medical training for extended personal backcountry trips or expeditions.
As believers with a huge passion for the nations and a heart to tell the story of Jesus where it has never been told, we are thrilled to offer the first WFR course (we know of) geared toward ministry and missions. The vision and heart of this program is to certify individuals/missionaries in Wilderness First Responder to better equip missionaries for reaching the unreached in remote areas. Since wilderness here is defined as further than an hour from a hospital, this can apply many places in the nations, not only in rural areas.
Amy is a Senior Instructor for Wilderness First Responder courses through SOLO Schools (See soloschools.com) and has been certifying individuals across the US over the past 8 years. As an experienced guide for the past 12 years she has led backcountry treks for 5-21 day trips, worked on an ambulance as an EMT for a Rescue team, and lived overseas as a missionary in closed countries.
The link below outlines the details for the course we will be offering Aug 1st – Aug 12th. Other courses may be offered this summer, but have not been solidified with dates at this time. If you are interested in this opportunity or have questions about the course, please email us at rootednomads@gmail.com.
