EXPLOREThe Big Island is a place with incredible natural beauty and a rich cultural history. Four out of the five National Parks in Hawai’i are on the Big Island. We have fourteen state parks and a 175 mile national historic trail. Being the largest Hawaiian Island, there are many amazing places to explore within 10 of the world’s 14 climate zones ranging from Wet Tropical to Polar Tundra; from Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park to the snow-capped heights of Maunakea; from the lush valleys of the Hilo and Hāmākua Coasts to the jet-black sands of Punalu’u Beach. |
HAWAIIAN REVIVAL HISTORYAll of Hawai’i is only a small dot of land mass in the midst of 2,000 miles of ocean. It is the most remote place on earth and has been described as "the ends of the earth." Hawaii is the farthest from the Middle Eastern cradle of civilization and the last to be occupied by man sometime around 400 A.D. The original Hawaiians had a deep rich history of aloha (agape love & breath of God) and pono (righteousness & virtue) as they followed Creator God to inhabit the islands… |
Cost of LivingIt is recommended that you budget $200 – $500 per person, per month . This would cover food, some transport, and general living costs. Please note that these figures are guidelines only. ClimateThe Big Island consists of two seasons: summer and winter. Unlike other places in the world, summer is dry season while winter is rainy season. Temperature lows average around 65°F with highs averaging 80°F. Humidity ranges between 65%-80%. Kona tends to run warmer while at the school, near South Point, runs slightly cooler. It gets cool enough in the evenings to wear a sweatshirt. In the midst of this, community is at the forefront of all that we do.We desire for students to get to know the Lord, realize who they are in Christ, and adventure with the Lord. Our heart is to pursue relationship with the Lord, self, and each other which creates a sweetness of unity within the community that lasts long past the school year. PLACES OF INTEREST:
